Election monitoring

At its final session, the Civil Board discussed a Memorandum with recommendations to improve the electoral law in order to ensure fair and transparent elections.

The Ministry of Interior summarized the trends in violating citizens’ electoral rights, the most common till that moment being the attempts for a corporative vote.

On September 24th 2014 a working meeting was held, between ISI coordinator for Vidin district – Milena Marinova and two long-term observers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

On September 25th 2014 in BTA Press-club a press-conference was held, where the team of ISI presented the project “Early Parliamentary Elections. Civil Monitoring” and the main activities for the campaign period.

The fifth session of the Civil Board for Free and Fair Elections was closed. The main issues that were raised were related to improper disclosure and mass distribution of sociological research data.

One of the main topics of today’s discussion at the session of the Civil Board was fighting against the practice of buying and selling of votes.

The main rights and obligations of the participants in the electoral process were presented as well as the most common violations, for which they should be careful.

Second Session of the Civil Board Second Session of the Civil Board More than an hour and a half, the Board members discussed with the Director of CRAS Ivan Getov the issue of how the so called "dead souls" are being entered in the electoral rolls.

On August 27th 2014, the first session of the Civil Board for Free and Transparent Elections was held.It involved representatives of 40 NGOs, MI, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Registration and Administrative Services office and CEC.

At a joint meeting at ISI, the regional coordinators of the election monitoring prepared a final analysis and recommendations for changes in the electoral rules.
