To help Serbia and Bosnia!

Serbia and Bosnia were overtaken by a severe natural disaster - the most torrential rains and the worst flooding in the last 120 years. A number of towns and villages were completely cut off from the outside world. Thousands of people were evacuated. Many people failed to leave their homes in time and are now prisoners in them. They have no drinking water or electricity. The governments of the two countries announced a state of emergency in some regions; the most affected ones are the municipalities of Loznitsa, Obrenovac and Grocka.

Members of the German organization Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund /ASB/, member of our partner European Network Solidar, as well as the Serbian organization "Initiative for Development and Cooperation" (IDC, Serbia) are working to provide emergency aid to the three municipalities and to build a Centre to house children struck by the record flooding. They need the help of all of us.

The first rescue actions are coordinated by the offices of ASB in Serbia and Bosnia, with the help of IDC. If you want to help or have suggestions or questions, please contact: Edit Wallmeier (e.wallmeier@asb.de), Ivan Marin (ivan.marin@asb-see.org) and Gordan Velev (gordan.velev@idcserbia.org ).
