A 3-day training „Get on Board! Mobilizing Young Leaders to Support the EU Enlargement Process Towards the Western Balkans”

In the period 7-9 September, the Institute for Social Integration (ISI), together with the  Liberal Politological Institute, and with the support of the “Konrad Adenauer” /Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung/ Foundation (KAS) and the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP), organized and carried out a three-day seminar "Get on Board! Mobilizing young leaders to support the EU enlargement process towards the Western Balkans". ISI is the Bulgarian partner within ENoP, together with partner organizations from six European countries. The project aims is to promote the EU enlargement through the countries of the Balkan Peninsula. The training was also attended by Mr. Christophe Steyer, coordinator and member of the Bureau of KAS in Brussels.

The training was attended by 24 representatives of 18 youth NGOs and 4 participants from Macedonia. They had the opportunity to meet prominent experts in the field of international relations and the European Union. Among them was Professor Dinko Dinkov, Department of "International Relations", University of National and World Economy (UNWE) as well as the experts from the Centre for European and International Studies (CEIS) Kalina Panayotova, Nevena Alexieva and Theodor Slavev.

During the second day of the training the participants assumed the role of European institutions, candidate countries and media, and under the guidance of trained facilitators, experienced 1-day simulation game, where they went through the lengthy negotiation process of association and accession of new EU members.

During the third, final day, all participants were prepared for being multipliers of the simulation game in their youth communities as well as on the whole topic of EU enlargement in the Western Balkans.
