ISI took part in an international forum "Sustainable Development Goals and the Future of Europe" in Germany
A public debate on "Sustainable Development Goals and the Future of Europe" was held on 15th October in Bonn, Germany, where the Institute for Social Integration was presented by Katya Koleva, Chairman of the Board.
Katya was one of the speakers of the forum, and the topic she presented was related to the commitment of EU presidencies to the sustainable development goals and the attitude of the Member States and candidate countries on the topic.
The forum also discussed the possibility of the Sustainable Development Program 2030 with its 17 goals (SDGs), adopted by all 193 UN Member States in 2015, to set a roadmap for the future of the EU as well. The 2030 agenda and its objectives set quantitative targets for 2030 covering the economic development, social inclusion and environmental sustainability. The European Union and its Member States are committed to these goals but have not taken the bold actions needed to achieve them, such as aligning their strategies and budgets with strategic objectives. Some of the most pressing socio-economic priorities and challenges, including the growing inequalities, youth unemployment and climate change, require the EU to commit to them and invest heavily in achieving them.
