The discussion on "Media Objectivity and Media Law" was held on January 31, 2011 in Sofia, National Palace of Culture, Hall 10. The discussion was attended by: Dr. Yuri Aslanov, Chairman of the Board of ISI; Dr. Mark Meinardus, Director for Bulgaria, FES; Sergey Stanishev, President of the National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party /BSP/ and Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of "Coalition for Bulgaria" /PGCB/; Ivelin Nikolov, journalist and MP; Anton Kutev, secretary of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and MP; Iliana Yotova, journalist and MEP; Peter Kurumbashev, MP; representatives of the Bulgarian media.

 

The discussion was carried out in two discussion blocks: "Pluralism in media" and "Media Law". The participants discussed the problems of Owner - Editor - Journalist relations, the monopolies, markets and public opinion, the issue of how far should media regulation reach.

 

Publication of the discussion was included in the regular edition of the European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP), March 2011
